You Don't Know What You're Asking For

In this powerful message, we're challenged to examine our hearts when we pray. The story of James and John asking Jesus for positions of honor serves as a mirror for our own prayer lives. Are we sometimes guilty of approaching God with selfish motives, wanting Him to agree before we even make our request? Jesus' response, 'You don't know what you're asking,' invites us to dig deeper into our desires and motivations. This teaching encourages us to seek God's will first, submit to His wisdom, and be willing to count the cost of our requests. It's a call to humility and servanthood, reminding us that true greatness in God's kingdom often looks different from what we expect. As we reflect on this, let's ask ourselves: Are we willing to drink the cup of suffering that may come with our prayers? Are our requests aligned with God's kingdom purposes?
